make sure that you get general training on all sections of a vehicle. Don't isolate your self to just one part or function ( like the engine). Get training on working on the inside , doors, trunk, bumpers in addition to the engine, brakes, exhaust etc. I hope this helps.

Karen,
It's great that you are getting this training! I am not in the automotive field, but, I think the important thing is that you continue your education. Cars are constantly changing, with all their onboard computer systems and all. Do the things that will advance your career. Get the certifications, from the manufacturers, or otherwise, that are sought after. Even if you aren't looking for a job, read the job listings from time to time to see what skills are in demand, and make sure you get them. EVEN if you have to pay for your own training. Don't let an employer hold you back by keeping you on oil changes and tire rotations! YOU alone are responsible for your continuing education and career development. Now, some employers are very proactive in training up their people, some aren't. Try to get on with one who is constantly giving employees more training. And if you have to start with one that isn't so great, remember to look for another job after a couple years. Don't get comfortable and stay with a mediocre employer.
You got this!!!!
