Kacey’s Answer

I have an undergraduate and a graduate degree in Geography. In my first 4 years of college I took classes on aerial imagery, mapping, weather, GIS, geology and landforms. In my second 4 years I gravitated more towards GIS and emergency management and was able to pick classes and write my thesis on those specific topics. I took religion classes throughout both colleges and some of my geography classmates went down a blended path of geography and religion because they wanted to study places where important historical events took place. Just a thought!

Joseph’s Answer

A good suggestion is go on Indeed or other job sites and do a search on the fields you have interest. This will provide you with job openings and the type of companies hiring in those fields.

Donna’s Answer

Aditi;

As you progress through your studies, you are going to find that certain topics interest you more than others. As you find those specific topics take time to do an internet search and learn more about careers in that topic. Eventually, you will have an idea or two on the specific direction you want to take your future career and you can start putting out feelers for internships or summer hire programs to give you a more clear outlook of perspective opportunities.

In general, majors in History and Geography gravitate to jobs as Historians, Geographers, Anthropologist, Archeologists, Economists, etc... You may even find that life takes you in another direction all together. Stay Inspired!
