Am I able to get my PhD in anything?
I wanted to do psychology but my mom and friends say that maybe engineering is where I need to be. I just don't know anymore. I know for sure I want my PhD but I don't know what topic to get it in. #engineering #psychology #college-majors #phd

Hi Kennedy!
My first question is: "Why do you want to get a PhD?". It takes a lot of money and a lot of time. Many people get there and find that they can't to what they thought they wanted to do. My wife has a counseling practice, and too often she has had to turn away PhD Psychologists, because they never stopped along the way to determine what would be most helpful to allow them to do what they really wanted to do.

Hi Kennedy,
I thinks its admirable that you want to get your PhD, but before making such a huge financial commitment I strongly suggest that you try internships in the areas of your interests. Oftentimes, the idea of a career discussed in school is vastly different from the real world. Before making a huge financial leap, I worked for 1.5 years after my undergraduate school with my BA in psychology. During that year, I worked in a school for Severely Emotionally Disturbed kids because I thought I may want to be a teacher. However, it lead me to a decision into going to graduate school for social work. Working will provide valuable insight!
