Hi, here is a good how to site I found for cover letter. These are the 4 basics of cover letters:
-Introduce yourself to the hiring manager
-Argue why you’d be a good fit for the job
-Fill in places your resume cannot describe
-Further explain other aspects of your resume

Good luck :)

One addition I just thought of, I use summary bullet points from my resume to stand out a little in my cover letter and I have a pretty high resume to interview percentage when I apply for jobs... :)

This is such a great question.

Definitely follow the advice given to you by Gary. The other suggestions I would add:

Do some research on google, look at templates of cover letters. That will give you a good idea of how to frame these letters.
You might be told cover letters are not important. Don't listen to that piece of advice. Absolutely create a well-written cover letter. Touch on points that are important to the role, and refer to the experience you have which relates to the job.
Don't make it too wordy. Keep it to the introduction; a main paragraph outlining why you think you are a good fit to the job; and then the conclusion.

Best of luck!

Simeon’s Answer

Usually, your cover letter is supposed to be brief and mostly explain your interest in the opening and in the company itself. Try to keep your cover letter to five sentences or less. Also, try not to be super dramatic about how much you'd love the position and how it'll fulfill your wildest ambitions. Instead, keep it pretty contained and professional. The cover letter is more of a warm-up/opener to the resume and isn't supposed to be the focal point of your application.

I third Gary's response. Resume Genius is a great tool to get ideas that suit your personal style. Make sure it's not too lengthy but clearly communicates why you are the best fit for the job.

Best of luck!
