Are too many or too few people entering this profession?

I am wondering when I graduate; are there too many or too few people entering finance profession? #business #finance #graduate #financial-analysis

Thank you comment icon This is a very important profession and there are many different routes you can go. I would try to do an internship in 2 different types of jobs if you are having a hard time deciding which to choose. I wouldn't worry about too many people entering it as if its something you love and are passionate about you will find a way in. An internship will probably help you either know its something you want to do or eliminate possibility. There is always a need for positions such as underwriting, financial advisors and accounting. It really just depends on if you enjoy working with numbers in accounting or like something more service oriented like underwriting where you help person qualify for a loan or if you want to advise someone on investments to make to help them save funds for retirement. Finance is always going to be important in business, so it's not a job going away. There are more people knowledgable about it than in generations past, but finance also has more responsibility than in the past too so it doesn't mean that the job market is saturated. Some of the traditional jobs like accounting might be getting saturated, but others are still growing and evolving.

Gregory’s Answer

There are plenty of opportunities in the financial industry. Banks are in need of financial analysts in several areas including investment banking and mortgage banking. As "Baby Boomers" (people who are now 60+ years old) have begun to and continue to retire, the need for people to replace them is growing. Many job offers in the financial industry today start out as internships, so don't discount those opportunities in your job search!
