Hi Madison,
Simply showing an interest and hard work in your field of interest goes a long way! Another approach is to seek successful mentors in other fields; successful people tend to hang out together so although they aren’t in your field there’s still value in observing their work ethic and skills.

Ask both professors in that career area, and people actually working in that field. Write them an attention-grabbing, persuasive letter that will get them interested in helping you.

Great question. I would start by speaking with your professors, and ask them if they can suggest any professionals in the field. Reach out to those people and you may be able to have a conversation over the phone. Remember that people like to talk about themselves, so they will likely want to tell you how they go to where they are today, etc.

Hello Madison,
If you apart any clubs at your college see if they have networking events with professionals in Public health or mentoring programs. I have found that this events were helpful to me when in college and now I attend them as a professional to meet with students who might be looking for a career in my field.
