Shane’s Answer
I'm not a federal agent, but I have several friends that are. You can major in almost anything you want to. I have a friend who went to law school and is now arresting bad people around the US. Have another buddy that is planning on being an agent when he graduates with his foreign language degree. Really depends on the type of agent you want to be and what kind of work you want to do. All federal agencies are basically really big businesses and require the same kinds of resources and support that most other big businesses would need. Best of luck and thanks for having a wonderful aspiration!

As a retired Federal Agent, I can advise that any degree will suffice. Personally, I obtained a Criminal Justice degree and graduated from law school. However, having worked with other Federal Agents over a 25 year period, I learned that they had a myriad of degree types.

There are a lot of different Criminal Justice programs around the country that tailor to different types of Federal Agents. You will need to decide if you want to be a field agent, analyst, lab researcher, or one of a variety of others and then pick a criminal justice program that fits with that career track.
Thank you!
