Tanjina if you enjoy helping others and considering other individuals' feelings. People with this personality type are normally selfless, help when others are in trouble, and like to make a difference. If you are interested in pursuing a career path that involves helping others theirs a wide variety of careers and fields to choose from.

REGISTERED NURSE – Nurses work in hospitals, clinics, physicians' offices, and other establishments that provide health services and provide care and treatment to patients. Some of their duties may include making sure patients take the proper medications on time, recording medical history, operating equipment, and working with other medical professionals. Depending on the environment, nurses often are the ones that spend the most time with patients and help them by making sure their needs are met and they remain in good care. To become a nurse, you will need at least an associate's degree or diploma in nursing and must pass the national licensure exam. There are also bachelor's and master's degrees available, which are necessary for higher positions in the field.

SOCIAL WORKER – Professionals who work with individuals and families who are struggling in some way and teach them how to cope with the challenges they are confronting in their lives. These professionals may specialize in working with specific population groups, like single mothers or individuals with addictions, and provide them with resources tailored to their particular needs, such as information about support groups, job opportunities, or ways to earn an education. The field of social work is rooted in helping people, making a career as a social worker a good option for an individual who wants to help others. To become a social worker, you will need a Bachelor in Social Work; if you want to work as a clinical social worker, you'll need to earn a Master in Social Work, gain at least two years of supervised experience, and become licensed.

POLICE OFFICER – Police officers respond to emergency calls and investigate disturbances and complaints. While responding to calls, officers have authority to issue citations and make arrests. Police officers also assist detectives in criminal investigations by collecting evidence, serving warrants, interviewing witnesses and testifying in court. Police force careers at the local and state level typically require candidates to be at least 21 years old and have a high school diploma. However, many states require state troopers to have an associate degree, work experience or a combination of both. All applicants must pass a physical fitness ability test, written examination, background check and psychological tests. Candidates with many traffic violations, a criminal record or a history of drug use will immediately be disqualified.

PERSONAL TRAINER – Fitness trainers or instructors want to help people take better care of their health and bodies with exercise and proper nutrition. They work closely with clients to ensure they are performing exercises correctly to prevent injury, and they also can provide emergency care. Trainers typically work with clients one-on-one or in groups of two or three, while instructors teach large groups of people in classes that focus on a specific style of exercise, such as aerobics, or technique, such as Pilates. Fitness trainers and instructors should have at least a high school diploma, though some employers may require an undergraduate degree or certification.

SCHOOL TEACHER – Elementary school teachers must have a caring personality as they work towards making a difference in the lives of their students. Teachers put their students first by working with their individual strengths and weaknesses to help them learn various concepts in a variety of subjects, including math, science, and English. Teachers assess student progress and manage their classroom behavior to help them become good citizens. They must be licensed to teach and have a bachelor's degree, though licensed teachers in certain states may be required to pursue a master's degree as well.

Hope this is helpful Tanjina

Hi Tanjina,

You have gotten some good information from others. It is great that you like to work with people. A job consists of working with people and wanting to help can make it easier to do. Your challenge will be to determine for yourself how you can best be of service to people. What skills and talents do you have that can help someone else? It is important that you use something that you value in yourself in your work. This is because a job, any job, is going to have hard times. When you do something you like or are good at, it makes those hard times easier to get through. In addition, doing what you love gives you confidence and helps you come from an authentic place. Think about people in the stores where you shop. You can sometimes tell when the person doesn't really like what they do. They can do the job but there is something missing in how they help you. I have even seen it with people who have become doctors. I have sat with one and thought - why do you even do this? It feels like you don't like doing it. And always doing what you don't like is stressful.

Deanna’s Answer

Hello Tanjina - I would not put too much pressure on yourself to find the career that will fit you best. I think it is great that you added that you like helping people. I would recommend continuing to build from there. What do you like about helping people and what makes you happy? Are there other things you like to do and that make you happy? And what are your strengths - are you good at writing, math, science or other subjects? All of these things will help you define what you are passionate about and what motivates you. Many times, people pick a career path too early and then change it because they really did not focus on what makes them happy and what they like. I find knowing yourself and using that as a guide helps you pursue things that will improve your life and career.

Rosalyn’s Answer

Hello Tanjina,
As the others have answered, there are many careers that allow you to help people. What path you choose depends on what else interests you. If you like science, healthcare might be a good option. I chose being a clinical pharmacist when I decided that being a physician was a little too hands on, and I feel that I have been able to help people throughout my career. There are also nurses, physical therapist, respiratory therapists and psychologist to name a few.
If science is not your thing, social work is a very broad field that would provide you with many was to help people.
You could also be a lawyer if the law interests you. There are many different types of lawyers other than criminal law that we always see on TV. If you like children, being a teacher is the ultimate way to help people by being a positive influence in their young lives.
If helping people truly makes you happy, you will find a way to do it in any career that you choose! :)

I think you would do well working for a non profit organization. Perhaps something small locally where you can start volunteering and building a network like a local homeless shelter or something bigger like the Red Cross or Peace Corps.

Frank’s Answer

Almost every career will provide you with the opportunity to engage with people where you can have a positive influence on their lives. In other words, you have many choices! The most important thing is to keep your mind open to different possibilities as you begin your journey as where you are today may be completely different from where you are tomorrow. How your career unfolds has a lot to do with the people you meet along the way who want to help you on your path because of how you positively impacted their own lives. So, take the time to get to know each person that you interface with.
