Guilaine’s Answer

Finance and accounting are great subjects to find a job in most countries around the world. If you want to get a position that might be regulated (like CPA), you may need to do additional tests/ certificates. You can look for equivalence as well for what your diploma is in that specific country before applying.

Stephanie’s Answer

Most large financial institutions, accounting firms, goods and services corporations etc have international offices that allow expatriot assignments for all kinds of functional areas in business.

There are ways to get an international CPA certificate that has reciprocity with other countries. Many countries in western europe, south america, etc will honor US degrees, especially if the company is headquartered in the US. If there are international requirements to be approved as an account, investor/broker, or analyst, it's likely you can study ahead of time and get credentialed before you go.

Daniel’s Answer

Absolutely. The key is to find a firm or company that has international operations. Companies are always looking for high quality individuals to work all over the world. Excel at each and every position that you are given, and express interest in an international opportunity early on. Good things happen to those that work hard, so with a little bit of patience, an opportunity will present itself. I can speak to this personally. I expressed interest in international work early on in my career, which helped to get me assigned to international clients and travelling for work. And based on the relationships that I developed, I got an opportunity to lead a portion of our organization in 29 countries in Central and Eastern Europe. To my point on patience, the international travel started after 5 years into my career, and the 3 year international tour started 15 years into my career. I'm glad I was patient!
