Rebecca Lynne’s Answer
Hassan,
That's a great question. An interview serves a couple of purposes. It is the perspective employer's opportunity to find out who you are. They will try to determine if you are the right fit for the job and have the skills to do the job. It is also the opportunity for you to figure out if this is the type of place you want to work and if this is the type of person you want to work for. Always remember that they are looking for someone just as much as you are looking for a job. Make it easy for them to choose you by highlighting ways that you will make their lives easier if they hire you. Show ways that the skills you already possess transfer to the skills they are seeking. Be engaging, but always let the interviewer set the tone on how the interview will go. Be very concise and clear in your answers. Be confident in your abilities and knock them dead!!
I hope this helped and good luck!!

it is the first impression you will give your future employer of how you are as a person and as a worker. it is your first attempt to sell yourself to prove to them that you are the best candidate.

Interview serves various purposes for both interviewer and interviewee. It gives both parties an opportunity to find out more about each other. For instance, a prospective employee can answer job related questions that may not be a part of advertisement for the job such as perks, schedule, daily calendar etc. It also gives the employee an opportunity to visit the workplace and see the work environment and company culture for themselves.

Will’s Answer
According to Merriam-Webster, interview is "a formal consultation usually to evaluate qualifications" as of a prospective student or employee. In common parlance, interviewer asks questions and interviewees respond with information. The way how interviewees behave and qualities of their responses will help interviewers make hiring decisions.
However, I would add that interview is a two-way street, interviewees can also evaluate how interviewers behave and qualities of their questions to see the whole leopard (the company) by spying a spot (interviewer). Table turns when interviewees receive an offer and need to make a decision of accepting or rejecting it.

An interview is the formal process of face-to-face conversation which helps both the interviewer and the interviewee to understand each other more closely and freely. If it is a job interview, it allows the interviewer and the Interviewee to make more human connections, communicate freely and understand each other clearly.
It helps the employer to understand whether the candidate is the best fit for the job role and help make informed decisions based on all the qualities that were assessed during the interview process and for the candidate applying for the job, it allows knowing the kind of work culture, people and environment he/she is getting into.
Simply put, it is a two-way process of knowing each other in a more formal way to build a trust system in place. Why do we need it? well, let's answer this question, if you want to work with somebody ( be it anything you are working on), would you just get anybody that you don't know and start working or you will first try to know the person before you put your trust on him/her?. That is why I think Interview is important and relevant

An interview is an opportunity for the interviewer to get to know you and for you to get to know more about the employer as well. Being hired for a job is also about being a good fit for the company and ensuring the company is a good fit for you. You should dress up for an interview and arrive early in order to put your best foot forward. You can also ask questions at the end. Examples of that would be: "what are you looking for in this position?" "what are you hoping for someone in this position to accomplish in the first 90 days?"

Hi, the goal of the interview is twofold. For the candidate, it is for you find out if the job description, company and culture align with where you believe you could contribute and thrive as an employee. You also get to meet the person/people that you would be working for so you can check for chemistry. As for the employer, they are assessing your skills (communication, leadership, ability to work in a team, creativity, focus, etc). Put it all together and the employer is looking for the best candidate(s) that will be a strong contributor and team player.
