Hi! In order to become an OB-GYN you have to college for your bachelor's degree for 4 years, then you have to go to medical school for 4 years and then you have to complete a residency in which you specialize and get certified in obstetrics and gynecology which takes about 4-5 more years.

Hi Imani! You can really go to any college, the important part is to take prerequisite courses for medical school such as biology, chemistry physics, etc. To be an OB/GYN one must obtain their bachelor's from an accredited university and attend medical school. For college, be sure to seek your interest and ask about the premed advising club, premed programs, etc. You can be any major and go to medical school and there are plenty of individuals from state universities with affordable tuition accepted to medical school. So definitely when applying it is important to be aware of premed advising, classes to take, and your extracurriculars such as clinical experiences like shadowing and volunteering; which college you go to will not matter as much as how you make the best of your premed education by having strong grades and being involved. You can also gain insight into OB/GYN by clinically volunteering in clinics possibly assisting expecting mothers and shadowing an OB/GYN to see if the field is right for you. In medical school you will complete rotations from every field to make sure you are certain of the specialty you want!
