Where can I get with my plan of individualized study?
I'm transferring from community college to app state next fall. I'm interested in social work, communication studies, and child development (social work is my concentration, not sure which minor/second concentration between communication and child development I should do.) Either way, I have two plans a) advocate for children with disabilities (I'm autistic myself, and I want to work with other people who advocate for them as well) or b) get a master's in education policy/law and analyze and change policies set for disabled students in schools. Which route would you go? Anyone with a similar plan? #communications #socialwork #childdevelopment #interdisciplinarystudies #individualizedmajor #appalachianstateuniversity #college #psychology #law

I currently live in Boone and for the field you are trying to enter, you will have great success at App State. Like Dennis said, you will have advisors that will be able to better cater your program and courses to all that you hope to achieve and learn. I do not believe you would be limited to choosing either option A or option B but you would be able to accomplish both. There are many opportunities available for you to advocate for what you believe in so even if you do not go into a specific minor or concentration, you can still do great things to having your voice and opinions heard.
Best of luck in the future!!
