Is Client Specialist a marketing-related job?
I was recently offered a Client Specialist job for entry level, and I am wondering if this is a good entry-level marketing job as I want to go big into marketing after college. #marketing #career #career #business

Hi Sonny,
Same-titled job might vary slightly in different industries. I would encourage you compare what you are doing now with job descriptions of most Marketing Specialists.
Here is a link: https://www.payscale.com/research/US/Job=Marketing_Specialist/Salary
You will find the general description of what most Marketing Specialists do and some extra info like average salary, skills needed, current job listings, and major employers.
Good luck 🤞!

Yes, if you have the time to take on a role of this sort I would suggest that any experience you can gain that is customer facing would be very valuable in a marketing career down the road.

The titles vary from company to company. But by the title of it, Client Specialist is someone who maintains a relationship with the client to ensure he is happy with the product. Client Specialist may have not necessarily sold the product to client but will make sure the client uses it well. They also influence the client to be loyal to their product/service. Basically ensures that they buy again and again. Client specialist will also resolve any issues that the client faces. This will require you to have marketing skills but is not a core marketing job!

Hi Sonny, well first congratulations on securing a job, well done! As other noted titles across organization do vary you're in a good spot if your current role, especially if you are getting directly or indirectly some client facing experience or seeing what client needs are and how they are serviced (opportunity to observe client interactions of your colleagues or preparations ahead of them).
Marketing roles ultimately focus first on client and type of products or services your organization will deliver for prospects/clients so while being in a client specialist role you'll have a unique window into what clients focus on, what matters to them, what needs they have, how those needs may evolve so you will get very good perspective that can inform you future marketing related career opportunities/mindset.
In my organization I've seen may marketing managers step into roles with client service functions and vice-verse. Both work very closely together and there is a lot of similarities with both roles. Wishing you much success in your career and professional journey!

A client specialist may carry out market research & analysis to determine the needs of consumers, create progress reports & presentations, make follow-up phone calls to clients, & come up with ways to provide better service.
