Hi Kais,

The first thing that you have to decide is whether you are comfortable with travelling, if yes then you can pursue sales representative.
If you require a desk job then you could join the Pharmaceutical industry.
If you are curious about the future or would like to contribute to the industry then Pharmaceutical research is the ideal field.

I wish you the best in the future.

Hi Kais,

I was in the same boat about 2 years ago while I was finishing up my third year of pharmacy school. Realistically, most pharmacy students will continue on into retail/community pharmacy and while that sound very daunting, there are still many opportunities within that area. I am currently a retail pharmacist with Walgreens, but have been able to work in local specialty through Walgreens. At local specialties, you are able to utilize clinical knowledge to manage patients with complicated disease states, including but not limited to HIV, HepC, oncology, and hemophilia. On a day-to-day, I corroborate with doctor's offices to complete prior authorizations or appeals request denials. I also aid patients in copay assistance or patient assistance programs for uninsured/under-insured patients. I find this work very rewarding as you develop a deep relationship with your patients and are able to afford each patient the attention and care they deserve.

To directly address your question, I am just providing insight into what other opportunities exist within retail/community pharmacy. There are a lot of opportunities beyond traditional retail as there are in other facets of pharmacy.

Hope this helps,
