Hi Jalisa,
YES, all jobs regardless of industry offers promotional opportunities based on achievements. If you work extra hard and consistently show more accomplishments than your peers management should recognize an employee for a promotion. Creating a detailed personal development plan to review with your manager is a great way to help work towards a promotion. This will make sure you clearly understand what's required to get promoted and how to make it happen. I've been promoted a few times following this practice and use it as a Manager today. That would probably depend on your employer. Are there other CNAs where you work that have been promoted? If so, talk to them and ask them what they did to get promoted. If not, take time to tell your supervisor that you would like to work toward some type of promotion.
Don't try to talk to your supervisor when you should be working. Ask your supervisor to eat lunch with you or during your break, talk to your supervisor. Then ask about any promotions. If there are no promotions available, ask your supervisor what classes you could take to to eventually move into a higher position.
Regardless, do your very best in your current job. You will impress your supervisor and put yourself in the best position to be promoted.
