Hi Luis! This is a great question and one that is unique to everyone. My number one advice is to reframe these questions to be about you and not about the job specifically.. for example
- What is a good job for me?
- What are the best things I want to get out of the job?
- What does respect mean for me in a job?
The answers to these questions, which will be different for everyone, will help you pinpoint the best job for you. For example, these are my answers:
- What is a good job for me? A: A job that allows me to be creative, that gives me freedom of my time, and that I feel like I learn from.
- What are the best things I want to get out of the job? I want good pay, but not at the expense of a work-life balance. I want a job that has a strong culture, and that pushes my understanding of human behavior.
- What does respect mean for me in a job? Respect for me at a job means respect of my time and of my person. Assigning work late due the next day is not acceptable, and being spoken to in a respectful manner is key.
Once you answer these questions, you can start searching for industries that fit your criteria. And you'll know what to ask in interviews to figure out if this job is for you. For example, to learn about work-life balance I might ask "What are typical work hours per week?" or if I do know about respect of my person I might ask "Describe the diversity efforts in your company?"
When I started my path on my career I had to ask myself "What are the 3 most important non-negotiables for my future job?" Those answers included growth, culture, and salary. And when I went looking for a job I knew if that company did not provide these things, that it would not be a good fit for me.
Good luck and I hope that helped!

You are the best person to answer these questions. The job good for yourself is the one that you feel you are happy and interested to work on it. It is not determined by the salary or the social status of the job. It is not a good job to you if you have no interest on it at all.
On another aspect, you can also consider what is your strength and how you make biggest contribution to society with your strength in the job.
If you can perform your job well and make your best contribution, people would respect you regardless the job. However, to win respect from others, you would need to respect others as well including your colleagues, clients, etc.
Hope this helps good luck!

Hey Luis M !
Fantastic question! So here's the thing, simply put, a good job for you in one that you enjoy most, to the point that it doesn't feel like a job you have to do.
When you use skills and abilities that feel natural to you and deploy these kills and knowledge in practice area and industry that is meaningful for you, you realize and appreciate the work you do and feel energized and engaged, and that's a great job to have.
No matter how big or small the work we do, we need to have meaning and value in what we do so we appreciate our contribution.
Here's a link to few tools to help you get to know a little more about your self and abilities which I always found helpful in career exploration:

Luis,
If you enjoy your work you will not feel like you're working. However, when we do anything for money it can reduce the enjoyment. Professional sports players probably love the game they play, but once they start doing it for a living it takes on a different dimension. My point is first find some areas that interest you. Determine the path that it would take to get into those fields, and is that feasible for you. Then understand that you are doing this for a living, so compensation, lifestyle and location are all important factors. The decision is not only what you like but what fits all the factors above because once you start doing something for a living, you cannot count on it being enjoyable forever.

Hi Luis,
Think about what gets you excited and you are passionate about, then educate yourself in that field. Then seek a job that meets your requirements. A good job will allow you to contribute the most you can to the purpose of the company that you are working for. Make sure you clearly understand your company's purpose and then do everything to meet those.
