Hello Lacy,
Though I am not a Veterinarian, when I was in junior high, I wanted to be a Vet and my uncle was going to Texas A&M Veterinarian school. My suggestion is to determine what types of animals with which you want to work and then seek out opportunities with Veterinarians, Animal Shelters, Zoo's, Animal Sanctuaries, Marine Parks, etc.
Best, Shannon

Hi Lacy! I'm not a Veterinarian either, but my Dad and Brother are and I worked as a Veterinary Assistant for many years. Most veterinarian's are either Large Animal (Horses, cows, sheep etc.) or Small Animal (cats, dogs, birds, etc) specialists. There are of course veterinarian's that specialize in marine life, wildlife, and zoo animals as well. I agree with Shannon's answer that you should determine what types of animals with which you want to work and then seek out opportunities with Veterinarians, Animal Shelters, Zoo's, Animal Sanctuaries, Marine Parks, etc. Good luck!
