Kartik’s Answer

To add to your question you just need MBBS (Bachelor's)
MD (masters )
To practice as a psychiatry Doctor you don't need PhD .

PhD is academic degree and helpful if you are going into intensive research field
Though as a Dr you will be quite capable to do research on own too

Priya’s Answer

Hi Andrew C,
From what I know, you would have to go to med school and then do your residency for psychiatry. I am not a psychiatrist, so you may need to google that answer if you do not get one here! You can also ask your school counselor/advisor if they have any information or see if there are any videos online. Good luck!

Do note, that psychology, psychiatry, counseling and social work (and so much more!) are different fields and all include helping people with their mental health!

Susan Delphine’s Answer

You will need a bachelor's degree to apply to medical school. Major in science. It is better to major in a branch of science, like neuroscience, rather than just "Biology." Take some psychology courses to be sure that you like the general field. Try for the highest A in every single class in college. If you are still in h.s., start practicing going for the highest A in every class. GPA is huge in getting accepted to med school.
