Pay depends on your region, degree, years of experience, specialty, and whether or not you are part of a union.
There are also shift differentials. For example, you can receive additional pay for working night shift or for being a charge nurse. Personally, it's not worth the extra pay to be a charge nurse.
If you are inquiring about RN pay in the Bay area, just know that it's one of the highest in all of the US, but keep in mind the cost of living is off the charts too.
