I chose to work for Dell Technologies because I loved the people and the environment when I was there for an internship, which were the two most important aspects to me. I had experience prior working for an aerospace company and for the Department of Energy, and I found the work environments did not align well with how I work, which hurt my performance and mental health.
If you have the opportunity, complete as many internships and work experiences as you can before you graduate and accept a full time job. Make a mental list of what you like and don't like about each place you work, then look for those things when you are interviewing for full time positions. Maybe some of the items Anny and Erin came up with will be on that list.
And remember, an interview isn't just for the company to decide whether you would be a good fit, its an opportunity for you to find out if you would enjoy working there.

Hi Raymond,
You have received some great advise. In addition, the culture of the company, as well as the growth opportunity are things to consider. Out of college I went into management consulting, working for what is now Accenture. It was a great opportunity to get exposed to various companies, work with a variety of teams, and had opportunities for significant growth.
Just like selecting a college, you will get a sense of the differences between companies and can factor in the pros and cons of each when making a career decision.

1. Ethics of the company - You will learn a lot in your first job. Your leaders and your colleagues will be your teachers and the ethics of the company will shape their behavior and be imprinted on you.
2. Diversity and inclusion - You may want to work with a company whose values align with your own. When you are interviewing, you may want to probe about those values.
3. Industry vitality - Is the industry growing and investing or contracting? An industry that is growing provides more opportunities to workers and attracts quality workers.
4. Talented colleagues - Whether you are playing a sport or working in a company, you want to work with talented people and learn from them. Whether they know new approaches, have experience with different industries, or are better leaders, you will learn a lot from your colleagues.
5. Fair compensation - Good companies pay for talent. Know your worth by doing your research.

Deckers makes it their mission to give back as much as possible and that really resonated with me. I chose a company I really believed in and wanted them to believe in me as well.
Growth within the company was also a huge factor in my decision process. Almost everyone I interviewed with had been with the company for 10+ years so I knew that I would have the opportunity to learn and truly grow into a leadership position in the future.
