Maintaining inventory that your customers are most interested in. You want to stock up on the items that are "favorites" BUT you also need to have some "unusual" items for repeat customers who already have your most common items and are seeking something unusual. If you don't have "unusual" items, then you will begin to lose repeat customers. This takes a LOT of effort as you need to do research, then make connections with suppliers, ship them in timely manner and ensure that you know how to care for those items so that you don't lose them while waiting to sell them AND so you can educate your customer who looks at it and says..."wow...that is so cool...how do I take care of it?"

Larger greenhouses that pay well are often located in rural areas. You may have to move to get started. Smaller 'mom and pop' greenhouses may not pay well but opportunities to take over business as owners retire is huge. A lot more technology in greenhouses houses than in the past. Modern greenhouses are computer controlled so strong computer skills helpful. Need to also understand basic plumbing and HVAC. Have to know market and grow what is in demand, not necessarily what you like or want to grow.
