Jason’s Answer

CareerVillage is a platform for students to ask questions in a safe environment. It's possible that they may be afraid to ask their family or counselors in person, or that they are having difficulty researching certain facts. And some things are just life lessons that cannot be easily "googled" but are taught. If you are wanting help in learning how a specific industry works, it's better to ask a professional in that industry than google for generic advice. Eg. Asking someone how their day to day is as a computer programmer will provide a lot of insight and may convince them to pursue that field or not

Will’s Answer

Hey Duclas,

Welcome to CareerVillage!

In short, for students like you, this is a safe place to receive career-related answers from real professionals!

According to its LinkedIn page, "CareerVillage.org is a non-profit organization that helps high school students get career advice online from real-world professionals. We work with educators in low-income communities to help students surface questions about their future, and then automatically email those questions to working professionals with relevant experience. Professionals can then answer those questions from any laptop or smartphone, giving students the inspiration and education they need to make better decisions about their futures. CareerVillage is a young organization with a game-changing program and is focused on scaling to serve hundreds of thousands of students nationally."
