Is there a chance that you would fail in nursing program? If you do, can you retake the classes again?
I want to go to Rutgers to become a RN. I'm a senior in high school. I'm kind of nervous and stressed on what to do next. I want to get my bachelors degree. #nursing #registered-nurses #nurse #healthcare #medicine

Hi Buse! I don't have experience per se with nursing school, but my close friend is attending now. She received her Bachelor's first and then applied to nursing school but I do know that there are programs where you can do a combined BSN/RN ( bachelor's of science combined with nursing). I believe Rutgers does have this option, so if you are applying for this program to be admitted you need a certain GPA as a high school student. I am not aware of the failing classes details per se for nursing but I do know every program such as medical school for example does have its criteria. If you apply to the BSN/RN program I would make sure to understand the criteria for staying in the program, most likely it will be maintaining a GPA. If you only obtain your bachelor's and then apply to nursing school afterwards there is also probably a criteria as well. I do recall from one individual I knew where some classmates unfortunately did fail. However, aside from the facts, do not worry about failing, there is also a risk and benefit to every program, study or situation you may be in; also there are PLENTY of resources on such campuses and programs to help students stay on track. If you are disciplined and use your resources and time well, you will get there! My best friend ( who I mentioned) is almost done with nursing school but was nervous as well and she has done an amazing job and continues to succeed every day! I truly hope this helps, I wish I could give more information but make sure to stay in touch with your high school guidance counselor and the departments in the nursing program at Rutgers to get more information and become affiliated with the program and the school.
I wish you the best future RN!!

Hello Buse!
I understand the idea of nursing school and the work involved may be daunting. I felt the very same 34 years ago! Advice I have given my own daughter (who is now in her4th year of nursing school) is "you get to the top of the stairs one step at a time". That is how you need to take on nursing school...once course, one lab, one day, one week , and one year at a time!!
If you are trying and giving it 110%, the professors will be more than willing to help you along the way.
Study groups are also a HUGE help!!
Good Luck to you!!!

If you fail a class you get one more chance. If you fail twice, you are out of the program. However, you can attend another nursing program at a different school.
