Try to see if there are any research opportunities available near you! The things you have to particularly look for do not have to relate to your major but it's better if you're passionate about what you do! So I would say try to join any clubs that interest you or even ask a science teacher if there are any opportunities for what you want to do.

See if you can volunteer somewhere that has labs! If not, don’t fret. AP classes in high school always help. Trying to volunteer anywhere also sets you apart from other students when applying for competitive degrees. Math classes are also going to be a huge deal in bio school, so try to get AP classes in those as well. If you have any family in the industry or family friends reach out to them as well and ask what path they took. There is more than one way to get to where you want to be. Good luck!
