Nylah’s Answer
Hey Xiaohui, I think if you enjoy writing in your free time then you would enjoy majoring in Journalism. In college, it doe require A LOT of reading and writing assignments, but that is what journalism is. To prepare now, I think you should ensure that you are reading, writing, and working on expanding your vocabulary. The purpose of finding a job? I would say so that you can acquire money, hopefully doing something you love, to enjoy life.
Good luck!

Hi Xiaohui,
I think this is a question only you can contemplate to find the right answer for you. Even now I think about this question. In my life, I have thought of jobs as a calling or higher purpose, and I have seen jobs also as a means toward a higher purpose, ways to help, ways to be yourself, things I am capable of doing, etc. I think it is different for everyone. Some may see a job as a means to focus on what they really love, some may see it as what they really have passion for. What would you like to look at jobs like? Perhaps thinking on it can help you find an answer suitable to you. I hope my thoughts helped!

Good question!! A job is a way to productively engage ourselves. It is important to always keep ourselves engaged, either monetarily or non-monetarily. Job is our monetary activity that keeps our body and mind busy and in return we earn money, knowledge and experience for ourselves. Earning money is important for looking after ourselves and those dependent upon us. The flip side of job would be burnout , stress and other health related issues. These have to be effectively managed. Its a difficult way of life to lead without a job since we have to chalk out action plans regularly to keep ourselves engaged . The question is why should we keep ourselves productively engaged? The answer is 'empty mind is a devil's workshop'. When we are not productively engaged we end up causing harm to the social environment around because our feelings of low self worth will be amply reflected in our reactions to our social interactions and more importantly to our emotional well being. A job helps us to gain our self worth, discover our interests and contribute productively to the society that has given us so many resources to utilise.
Self examine areas of interest
Invest time and effort in discovering institutes and courses offering courses of your interest.
Plan a budget for improving your skills as well as plan a salary goal that you would like to reach.
Work towards improving your skills
Do not be weakened by failures.

Hi Xiaohui C. How are you? Having a job doesn't necessarily have to be an ultimate goal for you. As you like to write, you may well be a freelancer, self-employed, and provide your service to different companies or clients. As other employees responded, having a job is part of a career advancement line, especially if you intend to become an executive or hold a C-level position. For this, it is necessary to start in more junior occupations and then progress and grow in the career, moving up and occupying more senior positions, which combine both the time of experience and the technical knowledge acquired during this period. Having a steady job is also about your employee profile. You may want to have more stability and guarantees, such as benefits and bonuses, than a job can offer.
Analyze what is your employee profile.
Study the market to understand where you can get paid more for your work: in a steady job or as a freelancer.
Think about your ideal career. Do you want to become an executive or don't you have that kind of aspiration?

The purpose of finding a job is to gain experience in order to progress in your career. Jobs helps people out with financial problems and can give benefits to their employees.
If your interest is in writing, there are some careers that you may be interested in. As Nylah has already mentioned, Journalism is a good major for those that love writing, as that major requires a LOT of reading and writing. Another field that you might have an interest in is Copywriting, and Content Writing. These are both currently growing markets that you can find a good job in. For some employers they only want to see samples of your work and do not care much for a degree. Technical Writing is more of a stretch, focusing mostly on writing material that is used to guide others into learning or doing something, in a more precise manner.
