Lane’s Answer

Prior to college, focus on your mathematics to develop a solid foundation for just about everything that will follow.

And I can't emphasize this enough: do NOT slack on your writing skills. That will be one of the most important things that could make or break your career as an engineer. Engineering isn't doing math homework and turning it in. Engineering is doing the math (analysis), but more importantly, writing reports and documents that explain what you've done for others, from non-technical managers and laypersons, to other engineers and supervisors.

Everything else you should get in university, but keep writing and really focus on that skill.

Good luck.

Sandra’s Answer

Mathematics, Geometry, Physics and Algebra are all very useful. If you have some knowledge of this before getting into college you will have great fundamentals to understand more complex subjects and the advanced calculus used in aerospace design (if you plan to pursue a Mechanics or Structures based career). You will touch this subjects in college as well, but having a foundation will give you the step forward and the possibility to focus on more complex problems and projects during your program.

Also, time management is very important, there will be a lot of projects and assignments but the career is beautiful and very rewarding.

Wish you success!
