what kind of historian travels

#travel #career

Thank you comment icon Hi Chris, I think that there are many types of historians that travel. I would want to know from you - what do you mean by travel? Do you want to go to foreign countries or do you want to stay closer to home? Do you see travel as getting on a plane or driving in a car or even going out on an archaeological dig? Even if you live in a city where you can learn about the history of your choice, travel can be about digging into old books or seeing places where history happened. Gloria Gloria Ortiz

History and travel are a match made in heaven. As a history fan and travel bug, I would recommend focusing on our area/ region to become a master of history. Say for example, if you like Roman history then travel focus would be around where Roman civilization was concentrated (Rome, Byzantine/ Turkey, Gaul/ France, etc.)

There are some excellent history shows on the Smithsonian and History channels. The presenters are historians who travel to the location they are presenting. I recommend starting to watch the History & Smithsonian channels to see what it would be like to travel as a historian. You would first need to become an expert in a historical topic and that would normally require at least a Master degree in history.
