Hi Junhua,
A career is a profession that takes up a large portion of time in your life, and that you work to progress at and potentially expand your role. This is needed for a general framework of what you'd like to do, but it's not something that's too restrictive or final. Ideas, wants, and needs change over time, and so can your career; it all depends on what you'd like to do and devote time on. Depending on the career, different requirements of experience and coursework or certifications may be needed - this is known as a career path, and encompasses the steps needed to begin a career in a certain profession. If you're interested in determining which career path is right for you, I would recommend listing things you are interested in. Alternatively, take a survey online that can help identify career interests. Then, see if you can find a career in one or a combination of more than one item on your list. See if any spark your interest, and then research what steps or education is needed to get to where you want to be. From here, develop a long-term goal of where you'd like to be, and then break this down into smaller steps of action items you can take now, or down the line. Then you can start working toward this! As I noted before, keep in mind you are free to change this goal at any time based on how your interests grow and change. It's okay for this to happen. It's also okay to stick with the same career path. It just depends on what's best for you!
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

A little curious about this question as what are you expecting in the answer. from dictionary, it is an occupation undertaken for a significant period of a person's life and with opportunities for progress. so is the ask maybe, an occupation is really need? or significant period of life for dedicate to one occupation is needed? if the ask is the former, I guess if you have enough resources (aka money) for life, it is not needed. as for dedicate significant time for a given occupation, it is usually needed if one wants to be good at a thing. Steve Jobs did not become good in his career without spending significant time learning what is required to build a company that can attract talents to build out his ideas.
hope that help

Career is that area where you dedicate your life, time, and energy to, to better yourself, your family, and your community. The key is choosing the best "Career" for you..... one that you have a passion for and enjoy.
