Inspectors are subject to pressure to pass unacceptable work or non confirming work. They are exposed to bribery or other means to look the other way. Knowledge and integrity are key to success in this profession. It is a good worthwhile profession but takes strong morals and ethics.

Whether right or wrong, the construction inspector is perceived to be in an adversarial role, one who will make it difficult for the rest of the construction crew, even though he is really there to "help" meet the minimum quality standers for the project.
