Hi Qianlin,

Digital Media is one of those great fields, since no matter the industry, the future is digital. So you are choosing a field that will allow you to work in a variety of industries. If you are interested in film, you should consider how you feel like your knowledge of digital media would work. How do you see yourself applying it? I am thinking anything from being the owner of a digital channel - like doing the work on Disney+'s Instagram. Or maybe you want to be a voice for an actor, a production company, or a studio. Maybe you value the efforts of film festivals or comic cons or independent film makers. You just need to consider what you would love to work on. Film is a highly varied and competitive industry. You need to watch other digital media creators to see what they are doing, what tools they use, and how. It is also an industry that probably requires good networking. You should apply for jobs that the places where you can gain experience as soon as possible, even while you are working on your degree. Consider working in free internships where you are gaining experience.

You can also work in customer education for a tech company. Software is sometimes difficult to adopt, and we have digital media specialists to help create the content to educate users and customers. If this is something that interests you, you might also think about an instructional design aspect to your education.
