Chia’s Answer

When I think about the role that I am in, I can tie it back to my own core values as well as my interests. Finding my "why" was an important step to take in my career journey. Leading with integrity, building trust, cultivating teamwork, developing others, are just a few that come to mind. When I look at my work experience or academic learnings, I ask myself, "where have I had the opportunity to gain competency or fulfill those needs" and "how does that support the role I am in today?" Knowing who I am, what I stand for, and what gets me excited each day helps me to deliver my best in my work. In my opinion, that's more important than just developing the hard skills required for any job. Skills can always be taught, but our inner drive and passions cannot.

Sarah’s Answer

Hi! It can definitely be tough always feeling like I fit in as a women in S.T.E.M but I always remind myself where I came from and where I am now. Looking back in high school, I was always more into academics and business. I decided to drop the business college credit I earned when graduating high school to switch career paths to Cyber Security. There definitely was a few challenges at first but looking back at how those challenges pushed me to grow keep me inspired. Now, here I am, graduating a semester early and with an extended corporate internship. Its not about doubting yourself rather looking at the progression. That's what helped me to get to the confidence in my field I am in.
