HI, if your school does not offer Psychology classes, consider taking one via Coursera or edX. Another option is to talk to community college professors and see if you can help them with research projects or audit their classes. What is important is for you to see what being in the field means, so you determine if it is the right fit. All of these are free options for you to explore. Best of luck.

Hi Josie =). You can see if your high school offers a psychology class or dual credit classes at the local community college where you can take an Introduction to Psychology class. You can also ask your high school advisor if there are any opportunities to shadow them (as they are typically mental health professionals!) or other professionals in psychology. There are a WIDE variety of different fields you can work within through Psychology, so if you do not like one job, explore others! You can ask your advisor for more information of the types of jobs you can do in that field or what to expect in the degree. You can also sample psychology material/information on YouTube and online (check if there are any through different universities or reputable sources.) Good luck!

To add to the previous answer which stated to find a class which is a great direction to go in...I would focus on learning how to write as professionally as possible. If you are going into psychology for the purposes of graduate learning to do counseling, testing, becoming any type of clinician or professor; you will need to know how to write and read at the professional level. This means being able to ready, interpret, and write peer reviewed journal articles. For examples, visit google scholar and read a few of the "articles" there.

In high school, you may learn to write in the MLA style. It would be beneficial to learn APA style as this is the professional and academic style.
Good luck to you
