Thing is, I like my sleep, and I was wanting to know that if I have to wake up out of my sleep to deliver a baby or tend to one's needs. #healthcare #doctor

Rory’s Answer

Yes, you do have to be on call to be an OB/GYN. Depending on your practice, you typically have partners and each rotates taking call. However, other practices in love you being on call for your own patients.

Thomas’s Answer

The answer is typically yes but usually on a rotation with other Obs. There are some hospitals that employ Obs that only delivery babies and they usually stay in the hospital for 12 hour shifts and don't take call
