Tonya’s Answer

My favorite thing about being a nurse is finding out what are the strengths of an individual or family and then working with those strengths to achieve health, wellness, personal, and professional goals. Since there is more to a person than who they are by their diagnosis by finding out ones strengths in different areas can support changing behaviors to be ones best.
When the changes occur and patient smiles, that is my favorite thing.
For example, when a patient figures out the best time to take a medication for a long term health change in their life and learns to manage the side effects of the health change to still be their best person to help themselves and others, this is spectacular.

Hillary’s Answer

One of my favorite things about being a nurse is being there for my patient and their families on some of the darkest and scariest days of their lives. They are letting me into their world and letting me take care of them. It is difficult to have to trust someone you've just met to do the right thing for you or your family member. Even when the outcomes are grim there is light that you, as a nurse, can bring.
