Veronica’s Answer

Hi Hope,

I became a fashion designer by studying at FIT. I learned how to design, illustrate, drape, construct and sew garments. It was a lot of hard work and super long hours but I loved it. I learned so much about the process and how to think like a designer. I found work after college through networking. The networking is the super hard part since there are not a lot of design jobs available. However if this is your passion don't let it stop you from making it happen.

I would start with creating, go for it. I know you will be able to create awesome garments. Good Luck :)

I have a friend who did this and still does.

You can either go to school or do it on your own.

If you go to school, you can go to school for fashion design programs to start and get a job.

If you don't go to school, you can use the internet/online to show photos of your design and create your own company to work for yourself.

Both options are difficult and would require hard work and dedication, also a little luck.

I hope you find a path you enjoy!
