how should i prepare for a midterm

i have been having some issues with my midterm preparation. how should i go about it in general? #teaching #studies #academic-advising #teacher-training

Thank you comment icon Hey Samson! I'm in my second year of college, and I have taken my share of midterms already. For starters, you should definitely go over class material/lectures, and make sure you understand the concepts, so if a similar question comes up, you will be able to apply your knowledge to answer it. Also, try studying in groups! I find that for some classes/subjects, forming a study group really helps facilitate discussion. Hope this helps! Albert

You can ask yourself how the topic applies in question forms. Study groups are good for helping each other understand and ask yourselves questions on the material. Rachel

MId-terms ..... very important tests as they help you discover what you have learned so far and what you might want to review a little more. How do you study?


I recommend that you study all along - each day study so that you don't have to feel nervous before the test. Some people cram or try to study a lot in a short amount of time. If you study at least 20 - 30 minutes everyday on one subject, that will help. Study means to review vocabulary and key concepts. Look at your notes or take notes if you don't have any. Review the questions at the end of the chapter - say the answers and write the answers.


The advice you got above to study with a partner is wonderful and works so well! Please start every class by locating at least one person you can study with. Then, meet with that person once a week to just study and review.


Talk with your teacher - ask your teacher for advice on what to focus on and for any study tips. Your teacher will appreciate your initiative!


Rest the night before, eat a delicious breakfast, take several deep breaths and then go for it! You will do well!!

Hello!!


You might try the Pomodoro method. Study completely for twenty minutes, take a five minute break and then study for another twenty minutes. Because you are breaking up the study time, your mind retains more.

Congratulations! Mid-term exams mean you've made it halfway! Let me say, that takes perseverance. Perseverance is the key to preparing for mid-terms. Step 1: Gather your notes and text references that apply to the past half term. Step 2: Organize the materials chronologically, in the order you learned from them. Step 3: Begin looking from the start of the course and note the things you are most unfamiliar with on a list. Step 4: Review with a partner from class that is more familiar or had better understanding of the material that you struggled with. Gain a better understanding from that partner and from your notes and readings. Step 5: Review again chronologically, and check off items that you are now, still unsure of. Never be afraid to clarify your areas of need with the instructor of the course. (They might even enjoy that). Step 6: Reward yourself each time you narrow the "unsure" list down. Go have a favorite snack, beverage, or a nice walk or bike ride. Clear your head. Spend time talking with a friend about how you can celebrate after Mid-terms are over. Then, get back at it, until there is no more unfamiliar, unmastered material. You should feel so confident at this point, that you WANT to take the exam and you feel excited about your upcoming score! Review everything from start to finish, one more time. Go take your exam! You will ace it! One more suggestion is to study in an optimal environment for you. Everyone is different, so only you know what your best study environment looks and feels like. Have fun! You're on your way to your dream career! Persevere!
