Hi Lydia, I am not a gynecologist but I am in the health field. Being a gynecologist can be a very rewarding career. In terms of drawbacks, there are a few things that you may want to consider. Like all physicians, gynecologists may work long hours and be "on call" for labor and delivery. This may or may not be a problem for you. Also, gynecologists must have medical malpractice insurance to cover them in the case of a lawsuit. However, many women do prefer a female gynecologist, and it might be a great career for you if you are interested in women's health, fertility and helping women to deliver healthy babies. I have two children and I had a great relationship with the physician who helped me with fertility issues and ultimately delivering two healthy babies.

Hi, If you wish to be a Gynecologist then I would say that you should pursue it. It will require dedication and commitment. You will need to study hard to get good grades in order to secure position in a medical school. You will do USMLE after that and then interviews in order to match at a residency program. You will do training in Residency program and eventually you will start working as a Consultant Physician. You will need to take Board Certification Exam after Residency as well. So in summary, it will need a lot of hard work and a series of examinations. But in the end, you will be able to have a good life and financially strong. You can watch videos over youtube/internet regarding people working as a Gynecologist and as a resident physician and it will give you better idea. I would say that choose a career that is fulfilling for your soul and makes you happy. Because you will only be able to do this if you enjoy the journey. Best wishes.
