Can you specialize in Marketing if you major in International Business?

I was wondering if minoring in marketing or doing electives later in it while being an international business major would be a good idea for someone who wants to eventually have a job in international marketing. #marketing #business #college-major

Taylor’s Answer

Every college is different. You generally have one major Marketing or International business if that discipline is offered at your college. You can however take courses in both marketing and international business to fulfill your course credit toward the the major of your choice. You may also have the option to Minor in Marketing or International business, but this may extend your course work/graduation.

Certainly ask this question with your schools admissions or college counselor.

Yes, your experiences, interests and grit will matter even more in getting your first job. Try to do job shadows, internships, and / or volunteering in the space you're interested working in. When you're in the work environment, talk to employees with roles that interest you. Ask these employees what type of experiences they've had that helped prepare them for their current role.

Phyllis’s Answer

Absolutely! Marketing has so many facets. Furthermore, you may choose to join an International firm in a Marketing capacity. It's wise to gain a full understanding to business from Sales to Operations to Customer Service to Finance. From this perspective, you'll have a better understanding of the customer, the business priorities, where opportunities exist and where you can make a difference.
