Thank you comment icon The most important thing is to find a job in where you think you'll be happy, but if you are just looking for growing job markets to enter into, the demand for Computer science, Data science, and most kinds of engineering are growing annually. Since we as a society are moving more and more towards innovation, and kind of degree in which you can be a part of the next big thing will always have a job opportunity. Chirag

Emily’s Answer

I would first start with what your interests are because there are so many job opportunities, but I would also consider jobs that are in demand and industries that are growing.

My experience has mainly been in tech, as a sales rep and then program manager. Happy to answer any questions you have about the tech industry or sales!

Emily recommends the following next steps:

This occupation finder by the U.S. BUREAU OF LABOR STATISTICS may be a good place to narrow your job search: https://www.bls.gov/ooh/occupation-finder.htm

Rebecca’s Answer

Hi, it seems you a wide variety of interest that including Maths, Geography and Business Studies, etc. There are different careers that are relevant to these interest. E.g.
Maths - would you consider to be a mathematician, a maths teacher, accountant, financial analyst, etc.
Geography - would you consider to be a Geography Teacher, Geomorphologist, Climate Change Analyst, etc.
Business Studies - would you consider to be administration work, management, accounting, etc.
I suggest you could explore more on the relevant careers and shortlist a few careers that you would like to pursue. Hence, you can choose the relevant subjects to be your major in the college.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Glenn’s Answer

I see that you list math and and geography. I can speak to one possible career, from my own experience. I started using geographic information systems in the late 1980s, as a Masters student. Before that, my interest was just in geography. Then once I got into it I realized that there was a lot of opportunity with GIS and remote sensing technology. That was 30 years ago, and you would think that this whole field would have run its course. But there has been strong growth over the entire 30 years, and I expect that it will continue for many decades to come. Just think of applications as universal as Google maps and Google Earth. I would say that billions of people use it, so it's very likely that this technology is going to continue into the future. The most exciting thing now is around cloud computing, new satellite data and the big data/artificial intelligence revolution. So, I think the keys for people that are interested in this area as a career are: (1) interest in geography and everything spatial, (2) math and data orientation, (3) some basic level of computer programming. I have been riding this wave for 30 years, and I don't see an end in sight. It's continuing to grow.

Glenn recommends the following next steps:

Take free courses in GIS online
If you like the courses, look for opportunities to study more in technical school or university
