Hope, it's wonderful that you are thinking about your possible careers including maybe being a doctor. I had a wonderful career as a family doctor. Mostly I am grateful that I was able to help people in a very practical way. It was a good combination of biology (a field I found fascinating) and people-skills which was also equally appealing. Within medicine as a career there are lots of options for what to do: clinical work of all sorts, teaching, research, public health work, etc. so it would be hard to feel "stuck". In my own work, I loved the variety of being a family doctor and the continuity of working with and knowing families over the generations and over time. Expanding to being a teacher in a medical school and in a residency training program for new physicians was a way to expand my skill set as my career developed.

There are drawbacks to all careers, of course, but the positives I found in medicine far outweighed the negatives.
At 14 it is the perfect time to start looking ahead and exploring your possible options. Keep asking questions! Below is a link you might want to check out from the American Association of Medical Colleges.
