Do AP classes really help your college applications?
Will having Advanced Placement courses really help my college applications? Do you think getting a B in an AP class will look better or worse to people evaluating your application? Is an AP class really worth it? #college #college-applications #ap #advance-placement

AP classes are good to have for your college applications. It shows colleges you are capable of taking on difficult level courses that are similar to "college level" work. Getting a B in an AP course versus an A in a regular course will generally look better. However, getting a C in an AP course instead of a B or A in an honors course or regular course might not. Depending on what you score on the AP exam, some colleges may give you college credit for that course. AP classes are definitely worth it. Take ones that interest you the most and you think you can do well in. Try talking to your school counselor to see if they can give you better insight. They might be able to give you advice on which courses they think would be a good fit, what to expect from the teacher, etc.

College counselors will see a student in a different light if they see two students: one students challenging themselves, taking AP classes while another student doesn't do anything at all.
AP classes are definitely worth it.

Hi Raeann!
Yes, AP courses will look good on your college application, but that is not the main reason that you should consider. The most important reason for taking AP classes is that they give you a more indepth study of the topic than one could get in the non-AP version, because you have been evaluated to be capable of learning at a higher academic level. They are worth it if you are interested in gaining a more involved understanding of the subject being studied. As far as the grade goes, one should always commit oneself to excelling.
Let me know if and how this was of help. Keep me posted. I would like to follow your progress.
