Robert’s Answer

A normal day for carpentry can vary greatly depending on what you are working on, where you are working, and who you are working for.

There are many specialty careers within carpentry that can change effect this answer. For example you could be union carpenter that specializes in framing houses.

Or a carpenter that installs flooring.

Or a carpentry that specializes in woodwork.

The hours required vary a lot also - you could work full-time for a company or work part-time. Or be self-employed carpenter and work as many hours as you'd like.

Melody’s Answer

A standard union carpenter has a day as follows:

Arrive at work around 0645. Bags on and ready to go by 0700. Work until 1200. Resume work at 1230. Day ends at 1530.

Starting out, you are going to be following someone... for the first few years. They are going to show you how to do things and then start permitting you to do them, and as you grow in your trade skills, you will eventually be allowed to handle different components of a build, on your own.

The term "carpenter" can cover a wide variety of work, and if you research your nearest carpenters union office, that website would go into greater detail as far as what skills you can be expected to learn and take part in.
