Hi Amy, I hope you are doing great!
I'm an amateur designer myself, I taught myself how to use a sewing machine and I love doodling figurines and sketching pretty outfits. I also lack creativity sometimes tho... when this happens, something that is pretty useful is to follow on the social media the famous designers from all styles of fashion that I like. This always gives me ideas of what's trending in terms of fashion. When I get an idea from another designer I use their design as a base and I draw something similar giving them a twist to my own taste, I don't recommend making copies of other designs but it is always great to find inspiration in other people's creations.
I hope my answer is useful, and even if you can't find the inspiration you need, I recommend you keep doing it, keep drawing, keep sewing, even if it is the simple stuff :)
I wish you the best of lucks!

Hi Amy!
This is an awesome career choice, those dresses are very creative and I would (personally) love to see a modern take on quinceanera dresses.
While I don't work in fashion design I do work in strategy and am often analyzing the fashion world, I also strategize creative and write articles weekly. What I see working in the fashion world in terms of inspiration is fashion designers that take something they love and go to the extreme trying to explore a topic as much as possible. Think Yeezus, with monotone colors, simple designs, and a cohesive look that is recognizable. This may not seem super creative, but the team really hyper-focused on earth colors, comfort, and future-forward fashion (recycled shoes) which makes the fashion intriguing because it was created with a purpose.
What I would challenge you to do for inspiration is find something you feel is missing in the fashion world.. which there was more wedding dress made of clear material so it looks like bridges are swimming in the water? what about a quinceanera dress that plays on American-Mexican culture, created in collaboration with latinx youth, and that can be re-used for everyday use?
Bottom line, design with a purpose and use your own life and passions to inspire you to create fashion that you feel will add something new, personal, and unique to the fashion world.
I hope that helps and best of luck!

Hi Amy!
I love you want to become a fashion designer for wedding and quinceanera dresses. It is a great market to design for, you get to create the dresses women will remember forever. For inspiration I would recommend doing some market research, go see what designers are selling, the dresses that are performing well and the options available for shoppers. This will place you in the right mindset to know what shoppers are looking for and what is missing in the market.
Also I would suggest sketching right away. Start designing for friends, keeping in mind their style preferences. This is fun and you get you designing right away since you know their styles. Your friends and family can be your muses. Or you can design dresses you would want to wear. Don't limit yourself, the bigger the better. It is better to take away than to add.
Have fun!
