What is your Career Goals Statement?

I'm a high school senior striving to land a spot in a top-tier STEM university while seeking to broaden my knowledge of computer science (through internships or any way to grasp experience as a software engineer)! Through this, I would like to instill a positive impact with CS (specifically artificial intelligence) one day.

As the planet is undergoing major paradigm shifts in several areas, especially several breakthroughs in science, technology major discoveries are yet to come and it will reshape businesses and economies in a positive way. Focusing our career on continuous learning in multiple disciplines will help us to connect the dots in a holistic way and make a positive impact.

Inventions in Technology have helped to improve the quality of life - air travel provides faster access to distant lands, communications and internet have broken the barriers of distance and time. Just think of what goes into making of airplanes and how communications backbone helps you communicate with someone at the other end of the world. and yet there are visionaries who predict that these are just scratching the surface compared to the inventions that are coming.

How fast these will happen will depend on each individual exploring the unrealized and dormant potentials within and contribute to the progress of the beautiful planet for a peaceful coexistence.

Deepak recommends the following next steps:

William’s Answer

As the field of Artificial Intelligence can encompass many sub-fields. It's best to do a general survey of which sub-field will be most interesting to you. Is it Vision, Speech, Automation or Knowledge -based? Since we don't have unlimited time but the knowledge seems to be so wide, it's best to concentrate on one area and specialize in one area and use it to make it a career.

Brian’s Answer

I agree with the previous answers of trying a bunch of different areas to see what you like best and then diving into that.

Being in the computer science industry already puts you in a great position for a great career. To help you enjoy your career it's important you understand what you like to do in that industry. I've learned this being in and out of industries I like and don't like.

It's always beneficial to supplement your highly technical skills (Computere Science) with business skills. If nothing else, it networks you with different set of people and you can look at problems in different ways.
