Like anything worth having, hard work is required. As the saying goes, you can't play on Saturday if you don't play on Friday and you can't play on Sunday unless you play on Saturday.

It takes a lot of hard work and skill to play well enough to get recognition at the high school and college levels, which lead to NFL level play. Study hard to be a great student-athlete. Football is great, but you can't do it forever.

Choosing the right schools that could give you a chance to highlight your talents is very important. If you have an opportunity to play at the college level, choose wisely - go with the team that wants you most, whose coaching staff you and your family trust to develop your skills, and give you the best opportunity to be the best player, teammate and student-athlete you can be. Try to stay off social media. There are a lot of pretenders there. You only need to show off your skills on the playing field. "The competitor to be feared is one who never bothers about you at all but goes on making his own business better all the time."

With all that, be excellent in all that you do. Even if you try as hard as you can, football might not pan out, but I guarantee you, something else will.

I’ve been coaching for 20 years. I can tell you the people I know that have made it to the league are some of the hardest workers I’ve ever coached. Natural talent will only get you so far but natural talent and dedication can sail you pst the moon.
