The art field is diverse and a career in the arts can be very fulfilling, and it is in demand right now. Depending on the specific field of art that you want to go into, you can create conversation, shape culture, and build products that people love to use.
I am a designer in the tech sector and create marketing, advertising and experiential designs for a global audience. My peers have gone on to create animated features at Pixar, Disney and the likes, while others design solutions for businesses in the direct-to-consumer and tech space. One friend is even a professor at a university! The roads are diverse and if you're nervous about fulfilling a stereotype of becoming a "starving artist"... Just know that none of us (currently) are! I suspect many of us are earning incomes that our parents never imagined of when they sent us packing to art school.
Keep at it! We believe in you.
Check out art college websites. Most of them have a "Proof" section. Check out my college's at https://www.ringling.edu/publications/, for example!

It is something you have to be truly passionate about, it is a field that has very limited earning potential. Some artists can make a great deal of money but it is somewhat rare. That is not to say you should not pursue your art just be aware it is a tough field to be successful monetarily.
