Hi Hope,

While colleges do have good coding classes and learning classes, it depends on how good the universities is, the funding etc.

Fortunately, you need not rely on college to learn coding. Youtube has a lot of resources for a same. Platforms like Coursera and edX has a lot of coding / programming courses that are offered by university professors. You can even apply for financial assistance to access them with minimum to no cost. Also, meetup groups by industry professionals that conducts seminars / webinars.

A lot of libraries have classes too. Depending on the area you live in.

Good luck!!

Akshata recommends the following next steps:

Pick a programming language.
Start with youtube or any platform for a beginners tutorial.
Practice.

Hi Hope,

As technology changes in Computer Science very rapidly, coders usually update their skills again and again via self-learning.

Colleges have good courses but coders rely on self-learning for the long run.

There are many good platforms like Udemy and Pluralsight which makes learning fun and easy.

Hope this helps.

Hi Hope!

Overall it will ultimately depend on the university you attend. I’m not sure what exactly your planned major is but I suggest that before applying you look at different universities that maybe focus on majors related to coding. Most universities also have their course offerings on their official websites so that is a good place to check if you have a specific school in mind. Good luck!!!
