Hey Justin,

If you know for sure you want to go into Marketing, there are majors that are just called Marketing and they will allow you to get a job in the Marketing field. If you are unsure of what kind of marketing you want to go into, you would chose the general Marketing major, but many schools offer more specific majors such as Marketing Management, Digital Marketing, and Social Media Marketing.

I would say, look into schools that have a specialty in Marketing or that offer different kinds of Marketing majors so that you can pick what's best suited for you. The college you decide to go to will play a big role on what kind of options in terms of majors you will have, so ensure that you do good research on schools that best suit your financial, major, and educational goals.

Good Luck!

Hi justin T. Appreciate you sharing this terrific question!

In addition to the awesome guidance already provided, there is another field, marketing technology, that allows individuals who are interested in marketing to match that interest with technology skills, like coding and/or data analytics.

These two things, combined, can be a powerful skill set that allows you to move deeper into either path...that is, if you decide you want to focus on say social marketing, your experience in technology can be of benefit. If you decide you want to do more data driven work, your exposure to the fundamentals of marketing/selling can be of benefit. In short, you could have more options at your disposal.

Hope you find this answer helpful. Best of luck to you!
