Absolutely NOT! There are millions of folks in the with a HS degree or less in the US that make a living.
That said, the conventional wisdom is that a college degree is the tried-and-true way to improve your lifetime income.
That said again, there's a range of possible careers and incomes for people with a HS degree, a range for those with college degree, and those ranges overlap a great deal. There are some non-college careers that can make more on average that some of the lower-paying careers for college degree holders--a lot of it depends on the career you choose...so choose wisely!

Always necessary no way.
If you are looking to get into a trade like plumbing or being an electrician there are apprenticeships and trade school options that can work much better.
Even in more professional careers like tech if you have experience college isn’t necessarily needed.
That being said if you graduate high school and have an opportunity to go to college and you don’t have an idea on a clear path for you. I would recommend going to college just to broaden your horizons and meet new people and experience new things.
