Yes, it's possible! Most colleges do a holistic review of applicants. If you have good extracurriculars they can make up for lower grades. Check out the following two YouTube videos about two students with average grades getting into very good colleges:

If you search on YouTube for "students with average grades getting into college" you'll find many more videos.
Good luck with you college application.

Hey Amariyeh!
Absolutely its possible! Depending on what your definition of average is would also help answer your question better, but for the most part it is very possible getting into a good college with "average" grades. If were talking B's and a couple C's, then yes it is more than likely that you could apply to your local 4 year university or state university and don't be afraid to apply to some higher rated schools; grades aren't always everything, schools take into account so many other factors. If you have good extracurriculars, a good resume, or any kind of volunteering that relates to a major you want to do, these are great boosts to ensure you get into a great school.
Now, if you don't have any of these, don't worry at all! A way to get started with less than average grades is to apply to a local community college. I know CC is sometimes seen as bad or not as good as state or 4 year universities, but this is simply not true. CC basically gives you a fresh start, once you get accepted and complete even a year, you can begin applying to 4 year universities to transfer your credits over and the best thing is, is that if you had average or below average grades in high school, but you got great grades in your years at CC, you have a way better chance of getting in this way than if you had immediately applied straight out of high school! CC doesn't always have to be your last option, instead you can use it as a stepping stone to get into a better university that you maybe had doubts about when you were in high school.
In a nutshell, there's more ways than you think to be able to get into a "good" college and CC is an amazing resource with and endless amount of pro's that could help you make that step into your dream school, so be sure to use it if you can!
Good Luck!

YES! YES! YES! Review schools' admission requirements. Side story -- I had a guidance counselor who told me that I was probably not college ready or "college material, in general." I was B-C (even got a D in Algebra!) No, I could not attend an Ivy league institution, but the state university an hour away proved to be the right fit! I also received some remediation assistance for that college ALG course. Plenty of resources out there! Be ready to work but be relentless in the pursuit that POST SECONDARY is for you!
